Boston Creates is Looking for Charlestown Volunteer Team Members!
Boston Creates, the Arts and Culture Plan for the City of Boston, is looking for volunteers to help with Charlestown community conversation
Boston Creates is a City of Boston, city-wide initiative to build a plan that will guide development of the arts and culture in the city for the next 10 years. It was kicked off on April 9th with a press conference by Mayor Walsh and Julie Barros, Chief of Arts + Culture. You can read more about the launch here: http://bit.ly/1JE0bGT The plan will be based on input from the community and will draw upon conversations with thousands of people through a neighborhood based process over the summer.
Currently we’re looking for people to get involved as Community Team Members. A volunteer community team member can be an artist, musician, student, community leader, business leader, young or senior citizen (or in between), and anyone else who wants to get involved with the cultural planning process. The members, along with the community team chair, will then hold community conversations, meetings, and discussion groups to generate ideas from their community. Members help to organize and run conversations necessary for success at a local level. As such, team members should ready and will to reach out to their own contacts as well as make new ones in order to include as a wide of a cross section of the community as possible.
The volunteer members will then hold community conversations, meetings, and discussion groups to generate ideas from their community. The commitment calls for just a few hours over the summer and is a great way to help create a vision for the arts in individual neighborhoods and the city as a whole. You can apply by filling out the very short application here: Boston Creates Community Team Member Application or by visiting www.BostonCreates.org. You don’t need to be an artist to apply! Just someone who has an interest in improving the community through the arts.
