Bunker Hill Community College Learn and Earn Internship Coordinator Katie Colello Receive Spotlight Award

The BHCC Foundation funds the Learn and Earn internships at SWIA through a family foundation's funding.

Bunker Hill Community College (BHCC) Learn and Earn Internship Coordinator Katie Colello accepted the Strong Women in Action (SWIA) Spotlight Award on behalf of the College’s Learn and Earn program and the BHCC Foundation at the SWIA Annual Gala, held virtually on November 13, 2020. SWIA is dedicated to building a strong and effective network of partners and aims to empower families and break the cycle of family poverty in Massachusetts by promoting pathways to economic independence.

The BHCC Foundation funds the Learn and Earn internships at SWIA through a family foundation’s funding. SWIA employed five BHCC student interns this past fall and will employ five more interns this spring.

“SWIA is a wonderful organization, and we are thrilled to have BHCC students intern there to gain hands-on experience," said Colello. "The organization values our students and provides incredible mentorship."

SWIA provides a wide range of programs to meet the needs of the families they serve. Their youth and teen programs are designed to empower, engage, and equip the next generation of leaders to realize their potential with amazing hands-on career exploration, mentorship programs, simulations, internship opportunities, workshops, and experiences.
