Charlestown Nurse Honored at Gillette Stadium

The New England Revolution brought one of Reading's local heroes onto the field this weekend.

Boston, MA — The New England Revolution honored Charlestown nurse Meredith Cheney at Gillette Stadium this past weekend, offering her what few in the nursing profession get enough of — gratitude.

Cheney, of Reading, is Nurse Practitioner on the Comprehensive Rehabilitation Unit at Charlestown's Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital. She was also the Hero of the Match at the Revolution's Aug. 20 home game against Columbus Crew SC.

Cheney was recognized earlier this summer with the Quarterly Safety Hero Award for the “above and beyond” measures she takes to keep her patients safe. In addition to her honorary role during the pregame ceremony, Cheney had a sideline view of the Revs' pregame warmups and got to watch the game from the Putnam Club.
