Crews Respond to Late-Night Blaze on Medford Street
Residents were evacuated from a three-story Boston Housing Authority building.

Firefighters responded to a fire shortly after midnight on Monday at 74 Medford St. No one was injured from the blaze, but residents from nine apartments were evacuated late in the night and put up in local hotel rooms for the night.
Lydia Agro, director of communications for the Housing Authority, said it's yet unclear whether residents will be able to return to the building today. Property managers are investigating the degree of smoke damage.
"Because it's a brick building, it's not typically easy to get smoke out of it," said Steve MacDonald, spokesman for Boston Fire Deparmtent.Â

Fire officials are still investigating the cause of the fire, which was isolated to one unit on the first floor, according to MacDonald.Â
It took crews a couple hours to extinguish the two-alarm fire. Damages were estimated at $100,000, MacDonald said.

Apparently a dog was rescued from the fire. Crews from WHDH were on the scene; they shot this video of the animal.Â
