Boston Children's Theatre Presents Fancy Nancy The Musical

David Sullivan and Charlotte Um will be taking the stage in Boston Children's Theatre's Fancy Nancy The Musical.

Grab your boa and get ready to enjoy an exhilarating (that’s fancy for exciting!) theatrical experience at Boston Children’s Theatre’s (BCT) production of FANCY NANCY THE MUSICAL featuring 12-year old David Sullivan and 14-year old Charlotte Um of Charleston. FANCY NANCY THE MUSICAL runs February 18 – 28 at The Regent Theatre, 7 Medford Street, Arlington, MA.

Playing the role of a ‘Student’ and understudying the role of ‘Lionel’, David was last seen in BCT’s production of Thoroughly Modern Millie Jr. as ‘Ching Ho.’ David has also appeared in BCT’s productions of Fame Jr. as ‘Schlomo’ and Pippin as ‘Lewis,’ as well as in Duck and Cover with The Player’s Ring, and The Edge of Peace at the Central Square Theatre. Other credits include Assassins at Harvard-Radcliffe Dramatic Club, Bye Bye Birdie with The Footlight Club, Where the Mountain Meets the Moon and Oliver at Wheelock Family Theatre, and Miracle on 34th Street at Stoneham Theatre. A 6th grade student at the Advent School, David has also appeared in numerous corporate videos for Houghton Mifflin Harcourt and was recently featured in a LEGO television commercial.

Playing the role of Nancy’s friend ‘Rhonda,’ Charlotte is making her Boston Children’s Theatre debut. Previously, Charlotte has performed at Brimmer and May in Cinderella as ‘Joy,’ Peter Pan as ‘Tinkerbell,’ Grease as ‘Patty Simcox,’ and The Little Mermaid as ‘Scuttle’s Friend.’ An accomplished dancer, Charlotte has performed with The Boston Ballet in The Nutcracker at the Boston Opera House, and she has also appeared in the television program ‘Fetch with Ruff Ruffman’ on PBS. Charlotte is a freshman at Boston University Academy.

“In a season dedicated to bringing many of our generation’s most popular and beloved books to the stage, Fancy Nancy is at the top of the charts,” revealed BCT Executive Director Toby Schine, who is also directing the production. “At Boston Children’s Theatre, we cherish the opportunity to build on our audience’s love of reading by creating their favorite characters on stage. Fancy Nancy is fun, high-spirited, entertaining and engaging- everything theater and literature should be. We hope it’s a theatrical experience even our youngest audience members will remember for a lifetime.”

Based on the wildly popular books by Jane O’Connor, FANCY NANCY THE MUSICAL features Nancy and her friends as they perform in their very first stage show. Nancy is absolutely positive (that’s fancy for 100% sure) that she and her best friend Bree will be cast as mermaids. What happens when Nancy is given the part of a dull, brown tree? How will Nancy bring her fancy flair to the role? With life lessons to learn in a fun, creative way, FANCY NANCY THE MUSICAL promises to be a smashing success (that’s fancy for a big hit)!
