Former Councilor Yancey, who had held office since 1984, offered little match for Andrea Joy Campbell. Campbell nearly doubled up Yancey in the vote count, proving her win in the preliminary election was no fluke.
In another notable race, Councilor Tito Jackson defeated Charles L. Clemons Jr. Jackson has held office since 2011.
When all was said and done, just north of 50,000 Bostonians turned out to cast a ballot. It’s a mark which represents just over 14 percent of registered voters.
