Esplanade Groper Found: State Police Have Accused Man In Custody

State Police said someone tipped them off to seeing the man in Charlestown after seeing his photo online.

BOSTON, MA — The man two women said rode up to them and groped them on the Esplanade from his bike recently is in custody, thanks to the keen eyes of folks who recognized him from news and social media reports, the State Police announced Thursday.

At 11: 30 a.m. Thursday State Police said they had Joel R. Musipili, 26, of Boston in custody and were in the process of booking him after someone tipped them off that they'd recognized his photo and saw him in Charlestown.

On Thursday, August 9, at about 1:45 p.m. a man was riding a bike past the women when he allegedly assaulted them, and was captured on surveillance cameras and is depicted in images, State Police released earlier.

The women later described the man to police as black, dressed in all black with a black backpack, which had two pieces of white tape.
