The churches of Charlestown are conducting a blessing of the ani- mals on Sunday, Oct. 16 at 9:15 a.m. The owners and their pets will meet at the fountain in Thompson Square and the ceremony offers pet owners an opportunity to reflect upon the positive impact animals have on our emotional, physical and spiritual well being. Animal owners are invited to bring their companion animals to this service and the animals will receive a blessing from the local clergy. The Reverend Tom Mousin of St. John’s, The Reverend James Ronan of St. Mary-St. Catherine of Siena, The Reverend Daniel Mahoney of St. Francis de Sales, and The Reverend Sue Fisher Seeger of St. John’s will conduct the ceremony. All pets are invited as well as stuffed animals and favorite pet photos. A certificate of the blessing will be presented to each pet owner and all the animals must be restrained by a leash, container, or in a carrier.
