Eversource is actively seeking applicants for its career-focused Electric Power Utility Technology (EPUT) Program, which is offered in partnership with Bunker Hill Community College, Local 369 Utilities Workers Union of America and Local 12004 United Steelworkers Union. Hundreds of individuals who completed the program are now employed at the energy company. In addition to the career benefits, graduates can earn an Associate of Science degree and a certificate in Natural Gas Technology from the largest community college in Massachusetts.

"Our students range from those who recently graduated high school to men and women who are refocusing their careers, and all of them are committed to learning the skills they need to succeed in their futures,” said Eversource Supervisor of Technical Training Marion Jones. “Now more than ever, we recognize many individuals are seeking jobs that are both secure and rewarding, and we’re able to provide that here at Eversource.”

With the pandemic forcing many to work and learn from home, Eversource and BHCC have temporarily adapted the program to an online format to help ensure safety of students and staff. The program offers a combination of hands-on training, classroom learning, and real-world experience, providing students with the tools they need to excel in the electric or natural gas field.

“Students thrive in this program because of the strong connection between academics and career,” said Dean of Professional Studies at BHCC Austin Gilliland. “We’re proud to partner with Eversource to support students in a program that furthers their education and leads to a fulfilling career.”

Most graduates go on to have successful careers at Eversource, like Jared Ciriello who graduated from the program in 2009 and works as a Troubleshooter in Underground Operations. Interested candidates can learn more about Jared’s career and his experience in the EPUT program in this video.
