How to Celebrate Halloween in Charlestown

Celebrate Halloween with family-friendly events around the neighborhood. (These are all free!)
Zume's 5th Annual Pumpkin Contest
Saturday, October 29Â outside on Main Street.
Bring your carved, painted, or decorated pumpkin to Zume’s between 2:00-2:30 p.m. Winners will be announced at 3:00 pm in front of the cafe. Costumes optional but encouraged! Come and have a halloween treat even if you don’t participate.
Pumpkin entries will be awarded in the following four categories: Family, Ages 3-6, Ages 7-13,  Ages 14-101.
Halloween Fun at the Cooperative Bank
Monday, October 31 at noon -- at the bank!
They will be giving away tricks and treats by the ton. Pumpkins, witches, goblins and ghosts - The Cooperative Bank promises to be the best host - so come if you dare, you’re in for a SCARE!

26th Annual Children's Halloween Costume Parade
Monday, October 31 at 5 p.m. at the Bunker Hill Monument
Gather around the monument and enjoy family entertainment. Children will receive glow in the dark necklaces, donated by the Charlestown Mothers Association. Mix and mingle with friends and neighbors, too. Costumes are encouraged for all ages. At 5:30 p.m., the Monument Square Wizard will lead the Children's Halloween Costume Parade around Monument Square, and new this year, the Training Field as well. The Fire House too!
Volunteers are needed for this event. From the organizers: we rely on volunteers to make this event a success. Many different volunteer opportunites are available. This event is sponsored by The Charlestown Mothers Association, The National Parks Service Department, The Monument Square Association and The Friends of the Training Field.

Patch's Little Pumpkin Halloween Costume Contest

Which kid in America has the most creative Halloween costume in the pumpkin patch? That's what we intend to find out with your photos and the help of celebrity judge Heidi Klum, who will select the Grand Prize winner.
The Grand Prize? Patch will whisk the winner to New York or Los Angeles for a two day, three night trip for two that includes a meet and greet with Heidi, plus a donation of $1031 to a local charity of the winner's choice. Nine runners up will also get a $1031 donation from Patch to a local charity of their choice.
Entering is easy. Just upload a photo of your kid, 12 years of age or younger, in his or her Halloween costume. Entries must be made by the parent or legal guardian of the child photographed. Include your name, the name of the child, and the local charity of your choice, in case you win. That information can be added after the photo is uploaded, by clicking edit photo, and filling in the caption field. Full rules are .
