Latest Weather: Massachusetts Storm Could Be 'Sleeping Giant'
Snow totals could be massive if the the storm develops as expected.

It still isn’t clear if this weekend’s winter storm will make its way up to the Northeast, but one thing is certain: If it it reaches Massachusetts, the snow totals could be massive.
AccuWeather senior meteorologist Dave Dombek said the cold air could ”awaken a sleeping giant in terms of a snowstorm.” Their models say 1-3 inches per hour is a possibility.
Some models weren’t so optimistic about the storm’s chances as of Tuesday afternoon. Weather.com’s forecast still suggested modest totals, around 3-5 inches over the weekend.

What seems sure is that no one is sure what to expect this weekend. But with the storm, which could come as soon as Friday night, still days out, there is plenty of time for estimates to change.
