MONDAY

  • Monday weather: Monday, July 29 will be partly sunny with a chance of showers and thunderstorms, according to the National Weather Service. High: 85, Low: 65.
  • John Harvard Mall improvements: The Boston Parks and Recreation Department and the Mayor’s Office of Neighborhood Services will host a meeting on Monday, July 29 to discuss improvements at the John Harvard Mall. The department is looking for interested community members to help in determining how the John Harvard Mall will look and function in the future. The meeting will be held at the District A-15 Boston Police Station (20 Vine St.) at 6:30 p.m.

TUESDAY

  • CHAD Movie Night: After the first movie night on Thursday was rained out, Charlestown Against Drugs will try again to host a free movie night in Charlestown, this time on Tuesday, July 30 at Peter Looney Park (Union St. and Old Rutherford Ave.). The movie “Where The Wild Things Are” will be shown beginning around 5 p.m.

WEDNESDAY

  • Adopt a pet rock: Teens can drop by the Charlestown Branch Library (179 Main St.) on Wednesday, July 31 at 2 p.m. to adopt and decorate a pet rock. This program is free, with no registration required.

THURSDAY

  • NARCAN training: MGH Charlestown and the Boston Public Health Commission will offer free NARCAN training on Thursday, Aug. 1 from 12-1 p.m. at the MGH Charlestown HealthCare Center (73 High St.). The free training helps opioid users and their families learn to prevent, recognize and intervene during an opioid overdose. Free lunch will be provided to participants.
  • 87 School St. meeting: The Mayor’s Office of Neighborhood Services will give neighbors a chance to weigh in on plans to build a rear dormer at 87 School St. in Charlestown during a meeting on Thursday, Aug. 1 at 6:30 p.m. at 87 School St.

FRIDAY

  • Night at the museum: MFA First Fridays are held on the first Friday of every month from 6-9:30 p.m. With the purchase of admission to the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, 465 Huntington Ave. ($25 adult, $23 seniors), you can explore the exhibits, enjoy music, cash bars featuring signature cocktails and delicious tapas available for purchase. This event is open to visitors ages 21 and up; purchase tickets in advance at mfa.org or at the door.
