'Monument' to Replace Shuttered Main Street Restaurant
The owner of now-closed Paolo's Trattoria is taking another run at the well-loved location.

CHARLESTOWN, MA — Charlestown is getting a new restaurant in Monument, the gastropub reportedly replacing now-closed Paolo's Trattoria, at 251 Main Street.
Members of the city's licensing board last week granted a liquor license for the new venue, in part because Charelstown has relatively restaurants, Universal Hub reports.
When it comes to competing for diners, "They need all the help they can get," board member Liam Curran said, according to the Hub story.

Paolo's closed this year. Co-owners Adam Hawk and Damian Donovan, a Charlestown native, originally took over the restaurant from the previous owner some seven years previously.
Bostinno reports the replacement restaurant will be called Monument, and will cater to a more social crowd, as opposed to Paolo's date-night vibe.

It will be "gastro pub meets bistro," Donovan told Bostinno.
Paolo's beloved pasta bolognese may not be back, but Bostinno reports its wood-fired pizzas will still be on the menu, along with shareable plates.
