Nearly 1000 Boston Murders Remain Unsolved

Hundreds of murder files were missing the age, name and race of the victims, according to a review conducted by the Boston Herald.

A total of 925 murders, which date back to 1970, remain unsolved in three Boston neighborhoods, according to a review conducted by the Boston Herald.

The unsolved murder cases in Roxbury, Dorchester and Mattapan are missing a slew of pertinent information, the review found. Hundreds of Boston police files were missing the race, age and even the name of the victims. In some cases, they were listed as John or Jane Doe.

Additionally, the Herald’s findings revealed black men were murdered 10 times more frequently than white men.
