He sets a great example for those young student athletes who are aspiring to do great things both on and off the ice. Often times you will see Brendan around the neighborhood playing street hockey with the kids at Eden Street park or helping with power skating drills at the Charlestown Youth Hockey practices. He is an outstanding scholar and maintains that in order to be successful on the ice or the field you must first make sure that your schoolwork is done and that you take pride in working hard in the classroom.
Collier also comments that no matter what sport you play, you must work hard at both school and at practice in order to play at a very competitive level. Having recently returned from a national high school showcase hockey tournament, he stated, "no matter how good you are you will always come up against better competition and you must be ready for that. That is where hard work pays off!" He also credited his family with always being there for him and providing the support he needed all along his very accomplished young student/ athlete career. Collier also shared some advice about friends and making sure that you surround yourself with good friends whom have the same values as you and will make smart decisions about staying out of trouble so that you can achieve your goals in life both now and in the future.
