Sunday Meeting to Focus on Sullivan Sq. Redesign
The meeting will be at the Middlesex Canal Association.

An upcoming meeting on Sunday will focus on the proposed reconstruction of Sullivan Square in Charlestown as a result of the anticipated influx of traffic from the approved Wynn Resorts casino project.
The Middlesex Canal Association Fall Meeting will be held Sunday, Oct. 26, in the museum at Billerica Falls of the Concord River, 71 Faulkner St. in Billerica starting at 1 p.m.

Skip Smallridge, a principal of the professional partnership of Crosby, Schlessinger, and Smallridge -- the firm that developed the Sullivan Square land use plan for the Boston Redevelopment Authority in anticipation of the proposed reconstruction of the road network in that area -- will speak at the upcoming meeting.
The planning effort and ideas suggested for historical interpretation are expected to be covered in the presentation on Sunday as well, and refreshments will be served to attendees, following the presentation.

The Massachusetts Gaming Commission previously voted in favor of awarding Wynn a casino license to build a resort-style casino in Everett across the bridge from Charlestown’s Sullivan Square. The proposed casino has thus far caused debate among Charlestown residents and officials. About 60 percent of the casino’s estimated traffic would come by way of Sullivan Square.
