Somerville's street music festival starts Friday and runs through the weekend.

Where/When: Davis Square/Friday, Sept. 30 to Sunday, Oct. 2, Various Times
Why Go: All weekend long, activist street bands will be gracing Davis Square and surrounding areas with MUSIC! Check out the schedule in the event listing. It's an incredibly lively event, complete with a puppet parade on Sunday.

There's the Interfaith "Blessing of the Animals."
Where/When: The Old North Church on Salem Street in the North End/Sunday, Oct. 2 at 3 p.m. 
Why Go: Bring your pet (or a photo of your pet!) to receive a blessing. Sponsored by the Animal Rescue League. Animals from the shelter will be there too.
