A BBQ for Local Heroes, Talk About School Fields & More

Five things to know for Wednesday in Chelmsford.

1. Happening Wednesday: An annual heroes barbecue will take place at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Chelmsford Crossings, a senior living community. Residents will honor the Chelmsford Fire Department, Police Department, EMT services and the Town of Chelmsford with entertainment, food and giveaways for heroes who attend. Residents will also donate money to a Jeff Bauman foundation. Bauman was injured during the Boston Marathon. 

2. Approaching Deadline: Friday is the deadline to register for cholesterol screening with the Chelmsford Board of Health. The screening will be Tuesday, Aug. 27. There is a $15 fee. More information is available on the official Chelmsford website. 

3. Weather: According to the National Weather Service, Wednesday will be mostly sunny, with a high near 81.

4. Wednesday in Meetings: The Synthetic Recreational Fields Committee will meet at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday at the School Administration Offices at 230 North Road for a construction update on synthetic turf fields, McCarthy Middle School field lights and other projects.
