Tornado Warning Expires With No Significant Damage in Chelmsford

The warning was in effect until about 5:30 p.m.

Updated Monday at 5:40 p.m.: The tornado warning that was issued Monday evening has since expired, though thunder storms are still possible in Middlesex County.

Original Story: A tornado warning was issued for Chelmsford and surrounding communities Monday.

The National Weather Service issued the warning at about 4:50 p.m. The warning was in effect until 5:30 p.m.

"Go to a basement or interior room on lowest floor," the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency said in a statement. "Stay away from windows."

The warning was issued for the following communities:

  • Billerica
  • Chelmsford
  • Westford
  • Acton
  • Concord
  • Bedford
  • Lunenburg
  • Littleton
  • Lancaster
  • Ayer
  • Shirley
  • Harvard
  • Boxborough
  • Carlisle
