Chelmsford Garden Club Supports Chelmsford Open Space Stewards

Annual Donation to Support Open Space Stewards

On Friday, June 22, Carol Cannistraro, Past President, and Lois Alves, Vice President, of the Chelmsford Garden Club donated $500 to Phil Stanway of the Chelmsford Open Space Stewards toward their expenses in their volunteer activities around town. This donation to the COSS helps them cover the costs of gasoline for powered machinery as well as other miscellaneous expenses. The COSS operates as an all volunteer wing of the Town Manager’s Office and has memos of agreement with the Town of Chelmsford, the Land Conservation Trust, the Conservation Commission, and the Paul Center.

Throughout each year, the COSS donates their time to help with maintenance and other activities of 19 public spaces throughout the town, including Heart Pond and Sunny Meadows. They also support Eagle Scout (60 in the last ten years), Boy Scout, and Girl Scout projects including loaning tools and materials as available.

Donations of many kinds and volunteers are always welcome. The Club is happy to annually provide this support for COSS and their activities to help beautify the town.
