Chelmsford High A Cappella Group Advances to Semifinal Competition

The Thursdays, Chelmsford High School's newly formed a cappella group, placed well enough in quarterfinals to advance.

CHELMSFORD, MA - The Chelmsford High School a cappella group The Thursdays sang its way to second place at The Varsity Vocals International Championship of High School A Cappella (ICHSA) Northeast Quarterfinals held at Danvers High School on Feb. 6.

The placement means the group advances to the semifinal round of competition, scheduled for March 5 at Galvin Middle School in Wakefield, according to the Varisty Vocals website. If the group earns first place at the semifinal competition, it is eligible to compete in the national competition held in New York City. Second and third place finishers at the semifinal level are eligible to compete for a wild card spot in the finals.

The Thursdays vocalist Gina Castellano won an Outstanding Soloist Award for her performance of “Bottom of the River/Daylight Again” during the quarterfinal competition.
