Chelmsford Names New Principal Of South Row Elementary

Theresa Gilbert, of Merrimac, was named the Principal of Chelmsford Public Schools' South Row Elementary School.

CHELMSFORD, MA – Theresa Gilbert will be the next principal of Chelmsford Public Schools’ South Row Elementary School, Superintendent Jay Lang announced on Monday.

Gilbert is replacing Molly McMahon who, after nine years at South Row, is taking a position at the Roche Center at Boston College, where she got her doctorate.

Gilbert will slide into the role at South Row on July 1, according to the district.

Gilbert has been the assistant principal and a literacy and math educator at Salisbury Elementary School since 2007. She graduated from University of New Hampshire with a degree in communications and then got her masters of business at UMass Boston and then went on to get her teacher certification in elementary education from Framingham State.

While she was at Salisbury Elementary, she was the school's Title I Director, writing grant proposals, managing budgets and optimizing staff and resources. She also initiated community projects which enhanced relationships with students, their families and communities.

Gilbert lives in Merrimac with her husband Dave, and their grown children, Jake who is 24, Maggie who is 22, and Sarah who is 20.
