Chelmsford To Pilot Street Calming Program
If you've driven down Main Street, you've likely noticed the yellow barrels. Here's what to know.

CHELMSFORD, MA — For years people in town have complained about cars speeding down Main Street. In an effort to address those concerns, the Chelmsford Department of Public Works has come up with a pilot program.
The DPW has placed bright yellow barrels filled with sand and warning signs, along with reflective markers to discourage speeding on sections of the street. By narrowing sections of the roadway with a makeshift median, the town hopes to encourage drivers to slow down.
DPW will remove the barrels before snow and ice removal needs to happen, according to the town.
