Chelmsford Police Cracking Down on Impaired Drivers as Part of 'Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over'
The mobilization will begin on Wednesday and last through Labor Day.

Chelmsford Police are among the police departments around the state who will be looking to crack down on impaired drivers for the remainder of the August.
The Chelmsford Police Department is taking part in the Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over mobilization, which will be ramping up efforts to stop drunk drivers starting Wednesday and lasting through September 1.
Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over is funded by a federal grant administered through the Executive Office of Public Safety and Security’s Highway Safety Division.

Police added that impaired driving is one of America’s most committed and deadliest crimes, and added that the number of drivers operating under the influence increases during the holiday period, which is why the operation will run through Labor Day.
“Chelmsford officers will be aggressively looking for impaired drivers on the roadways,” police said in announcing the initiative. “Since twice as many alcohol-impaired crashes occur over the weekend, and four times as many occur at night, particular attention will be paid to these high-risk times when impaired drivers are most likely to be on the roads.”
