Chelmsford Power Outages: Most Of Town Restored

Chelmsford power outage update: a historic storm knocked out power to more than 450,000 in Massachusetts.

CHELMSFORD, MA — Power was restored to most of Chelmsford Saturday after Friday's historic storm. As of Saturday at 2 p.m., there were 14 still without power in Chelmsford, according to National Grid. National Grid crews were working to restore power; the company said it could not provide expected restoration times due to the extent of the damage.

Statewide, more than 360,000 were still without power Saturday.

Friday's storm whipped up wind gusts approaching 100 mph in parts of the state. At the height of the storm, more than 450,000 were without power statewide.

"Hundreds of line, wires down and damage assessment crews are focusing on emergencies and public safety," National Grid said in a statement. "The storm brought flooding, downed trees and wires ... We’re focusing on critical customers and emergency calls before we transition to full-blown restoration."
