Chelmsford Resident Guaranteed an ‘American Idol’ Audition

Chelmsford resident Jilly Martin is on her way to audition for “American Idol,” and unlike other hopefuls, Martin will skip the line and is guaranteed an audition.
The 27-year-old wowed judges with her rendition of “America the Beautiful” and won “Boston Idol” on Fox 25 News on Wednesday, securing her a spot in front of the “American Idol” judges at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro on Friday.
“I’m very excited that I came back from vacation to come here,” Martin said after she out-sang two other girls. “I’m glad I made the trip.”

Martin, a country singer, said she looks up to Carrie Underwood.
Though he wasn’t a judge, “American Idol” producer Patrick Lynn was in the audience to “take it all in,” according to Fox 25.
