Chelmsford Students to Play at Red Sox Game

The Chelmsford All Town Wind Ensemble hopes to raise funds for transportation, lunch, bowling and a concert band clinic for the students.

CHELSMFORD, MA - About 60 Chelmsford volunteer musicians in grades five through 12 will play "The Star Spangled Banner" for the Red Sox game against the Rockies at Fenway Park on Tuesday, May 24.

The Chelmsford All Town Wind Ensemble was invited back after their successful debut performance at Fenway last April, Chelmsford public schools reported.

"The Chelmsford All Town Wind Ensemble is a spirited group of enthusiastic young musicians, all dedicated to rehearsing after school hours to play advanced music of high artistic merit," Chelmsford schools wrote on social media.

The band is comprised of students in the McCarthy Middle School, Parker Middle School, and Chelmsford High School Band Programs.

The ensemble actively raised funds all year, but the group is in need of community support to relieve parents of costs for bus transportation, lunch and bowling at Jillian's and Lucky Strike and a concert band clinic with Professor Eric Hewitt at the Boston Conservatory.
