Chelmsford Will Likely Dodge the Snowy Bullet (This Time)

CHELMSFORD, MA - It isn’t all that often Massachusetts gets to say it’s going to dodge the snow bullet -- but this is shaping up to be one of those times.

The latest forecast from the National Weather Service indicates that the major winter storm that will impact the east coast and mid-Atlantic will fizzle out before it makes it too far into Massachusetts.

The greatest chance for heavy snow is in southeast Massachusetts and Rhode Island, but, of course, nothing is 100 percent certain.

“We are somewhat more confident that the highest snowfall totals in southern New England will be confined to the South Coast, Cape Cod, and the Islands (but a wintry mix could keep totals down on the outer Cape and Islands),” the NWS said in a 1:30 p.m. update. ”Odds starting to favor little or no impact from the Mass Pike to the New Hampshire border, although some snow is still possible across eastern Massachusetts from off the ocean (including Boston).”

The 4 p.m., probable snow accumulation map shows Chelmsford could see less than an inch of snow.
