Chelmsford's Dan Craig Named NBA D-League Coach of the Year

Craig led the Skyforce to the best mark in league history.

CHELMSFORD, MA - Dan Craig of the Sioux Falls Skyforce was named NBA Development League Coach of the Year.

Craig, who is originally from Chelmsford, led the Skyforce to a 40-10 regular-season record, the best mark in league history.

Craig started out as a video intern with the Miami Heat, Skyforce's NBA parent club, and has worked his way up ever since. He was the NBA D-League Coach of the Month for December, January and March/April.

Craig served as head coach of the Heat's NBA Summer League team for the past three years and was the team's assistant coach/director of player development during the 2014-15 season.

"I've done summer leagues for the past three years, six in total, but this is a whole different ballgame," Craig said in a video posted on social media by Skyforce.

Craig's achievements were met with congratulations from Miami Heat president Pat Riley and coach Erik Spoelstra.

"I think Danny has a great future ahead of him and he has head coaching talent," Riley said in the video.
