Chelmsford's Jack Eichel: Goal, 2 Assists In NHL All-Star Game

CHELMSFORD, MA — Jack Eichel, the pride of Chelmsford, scored a goal and had two assists in his first NHL All-Star game this weekend. The 21-year-old Buffalo Sabres forward, who last year signed a massive $80 million contract, was picked as his team's sole representative for the Atlantic Division squad. He notched a goal and two assists in the Atlantic's 7-4 win over the Metropolitan team Sunday. Eichel and Tampa Bay Lightning forward Nikita Kucherov teamed up for a pretty-looking score (video below).

The Pacific All-Stars defeated the Atlantic squad in the final.

Eichel has 20 goals and 29 assists so far this season. On Monday, he was named one of the league's "Three Stars of the Week."

Eichel, who played college hockey at Boston University, was drafted by the Sabres in 2015 and made his regular-season debut at the age of 18.

The Sabres are banking on Eichel to help turn the team's fortunes around — Buffalo has missed the playoffs the past six seasons and the team currently has the second-worst record in the league as it sits at the bottom of the Eastern Conference with 37 points.
