CHELMSFORD, MA — The town's senior center is preparing to open gradually and slowly more than a year after the pandemic was declared. And it may take some time, according to center officials.

"It will be a slow and gradual process to reopen safely," Director of Human Services Debi Siriani said in a statement.

One of the first things that has brought back actual people to the building —in very limited numbers and with masks —are tax appointments, she said.

She said the center's staff are closely studying the new regulations as they happen and will adjust accordingly.

"But please understand that our group of folks is still the most at risk, so we will be very measured in our reopening," Siriani said.

The Center is closed to the public without appointment. But it is staffed Monday through Friday to answer questions and provide assistance
