Half-Staff Notices for Pearl Harbor, Nelson Mandela

The notice ends on Dec. 9

Over the next few days, U.S. and Commonwealth flags will be at half-staff in Chelmsford to memorialize two events.

Governor Deval Patrick has ordered that flags be lowered to half-staff on Dec. 7 from sunrise to sunset in in honor of those who died at Pearl Harbor in 1941.

President Barack Obama has ordered that all flags be lowered to half-staff immediately until Dec. 9 to honor the passing of former South African president Nelson Mandela.

The orders applies to... 

  • the main administration buildings of the state and municipalities (i.e. - the state house, town halls, etc.)
  • Other state or town-owned or controlled buildings
  • All military installations in the state.
