ICYMI: A Chelmsford High Student Put On Her Dancing Shoes... And Won

A Chelmsford High School junior danced her way to Platinum Pro recognition and a second place finish July 9 at the Turn It Up National Dance Competition in Hyannis.

Sixteen-year-old Courtney Fahey claimed second place out of 100 solo routines in the Senior Teen Division and earned the Technical Excellence Award for her dance titled, “Oh Darling,” choreographed by Brittany Palaski, according to a press release.

Fahey also performed a second solo, titled “You’ll Find a Way,” choreographed by Bryan Steele and JR Linden.

In addition to competing, Fahey also participated in the National Dance Convention, which allowed her to take master classes from the dance industry’s top professionals including finalists from the hit TV show “So You Think You Can Dance.”

She was selected as an outstanding participant in the senior master classes and awarded a Full Convention Scholarship, which will allow Fahey to assist and dance with the master teachers at the Turn It Up Convention in the fall.

Fahey also danced on the Turn It Up National Dance Team for the entire week of Nationals in Hyannis. As a member of that team, she worked with industry professionals for six days in preparation for the opening performance of the National Dance Battle. She earned her spot on that team with her solo performance in last spring’s regional Turn It Up competition.

She trains at Revolution Dance Academy in Chelmsford.
