World Trade Center Beam Arrives in Chelmsford
The Chelmsford Fire Department picked up the beam in New York on Wednesday morning.
CHELMSFORD, MA - The Chelmsford Fire Department picked up a a 30-pound beam Wednesday that had been part of the World Trade Center and is driving it in a procession to Chelmsford, hopefully in time to dedicate it on Sept. 11, 15 years after the terrorist attacks.
Here are updates on the progress:
About 10:30 a.m. - The Fire Department picks up the beam and leaves New York City.
About 11:30 a.m. - The Fire Department passes through Danbury Conn.
About 12:10 p.m. - The procession gets onto 91 North.
About 2:15 p.m.- The Fire Department stops for a photo op in Sturbridge Mass. (see above).
About 2:45 p.m. - The procession gets on Route 495.
About 3 p.m. - The procession passes through Westford.
About 3:30 p.m. - The beam reaches the memorial in Chelmsford, according to reports.
The Fire Department will take Route 495 onto North Road and proceed down to Chelmsford Center, ending at the Fire Headquarters. They plan to arrive at about 3 p.m.

The beam will be installed as part of the memorial located at the Chelmsford Fire Department, which was dedicated two years ago.
Chelmsford residents Andrew Green and David Bernard were killed in the Sept. 11, 2001 attack on New York City's World Trade Center.
