Local Veterinarian Passed Away on Monday

Dr. Martin Gruber, a retired veterinarian at Chelmsford Animal Clinic on Fletcher Street, passed away on Monday at the age of 78.

Born in Brooklyn, he received an undergraduate degree from Michigan State and a doctorate from Cornell before moving to Chelmsford in 1963. 

He retired from veterinary work in 2005 after 42 years but remained active with the Chelmsford Rotary Club, the Lowell Humane Society and other groups.

Gruber also served as a Town Meeting Representative for 13 years and was the town's animal inspector for over 40 years.
