New Acton Road Fitness Studio Aims To Stand Out
Locate at the Keyk's plaza, Justin and Kylie's Custom Fitness Training Center aims to stand out in a crowded field of fitness studios in the area.

A new fitness studio has opened its doors on Acton Road this fall, joining several other competitors in the area.
Located at 333 Acton Rd. in the Keyks’ plaza just past Kate’s Corner, Justin and Kylie’s Custom Fitness Training Center opened their doors in September with a thousand square feet studio filled with over 500 pieces of exercise equipment.
Operated by Kylie and Justin Ricker, the studio hopes to follow in the footsteps of other nearby fitness studios that have opened recently like It’s Personal Fitness on Summer Street and Fist Fitness on Littleton Road just over the Westford border, as well as the over a dozen other fitness studios within a five mile radius.

For the Rickers, the strategy is a focus on specialized packages, such as programmed geared toward getting to a certain weight for events like weddings, with shorter time frames and more attention to clients than at larger gyms.
“We sell packages for eight to twelve week segments. When people buy a plan for a year, they don’t tend to show up, but when it’s for only this many weeks, it’s more tangible,” said Kylie. “I think a lot of people will see a Planet Fitness or a Boost Fitness as somewhere they can be on their own, but we want to help clients focus on particular goals. We want to build trust and help our clients become the best they can be.”

Right next to Fist Fitness, Kiki Tobin of InMotion Spinning is celebrating her first year in business in December.
While she thinks the market is near its saturation point, she believes that there is plenty of room for gyms like hers and the Rickers’ to thrive in this area.
“I think it’s very competitive, it’s a great demographic so everything is getting flooded, but it’s nice that the people of Westford and Chelmsford have a lot of choice,” said Tobin, who also recently added conditioning programs to her studio. “The first year has been pretty good to us, people are tending to go to the smaller gyms with more service. I think that’s part of why you’re seeing more specialized opening up.”
More information on the studio is available on its website.
