Obituary: Lee D. Reid RN, 92, Longtime Chelmsford Resident

Lee and her husband were world travelers, enjoying the many histories and cultures of 38 countries and much of the United States.

CHELMSFORD, MA – After many travels and many life experiences, Lee Reid has reached her final destination and was welcomed home to journeys end. She passed away peacefully on March 18, 2018 at Southern New Hampshire Medical Center just 2 weeks shy of her 93rd birthday.

Lee was predeceased by her husband, Wallace Adams Reid, with whom she shared a loving 69 year marriage. A former longtime resident of Chelmsford, Mass., and most recently a resident of Hunt Community in Nashua, NH, she and Wallace traveled the world over, having vacationed in 38 countries and much of the United States enjoying the many histories and cultures.

She was born and educated in Westboro, Mass and graduated from Milford School of Nursing. Her nursing career would span 38 years, working in many area hospitals and caring for countless patients in the New England area. She completed her nursing career while at Tewksbury State Hospital in 1983.

She was a member of the Chelmsford Garden Club where she served in many capacities as well as president and was instrumental in improving the town she loved and lived in for 35 years. She was on the Northern District Garden Club Federation of Massachusetts and taught flower arranging. In her early years she was active in the League of Women’s Voters. She was a member of the Chelmsford Choral Society and played classical piano. She was a patron of The Boston Ballet.

Lee and her husband were golfers and members of an MIT Gourmet group. As a communicant of the North Chelmsford Methodist Church, she and Wallace participated on a variety of committees and served and cooked dinners for the homeless for many years.

Lee is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, Sherrie and Edward Armstrong of Bedford, NH, Nancy Meikrantz of Middletown, Maryland; her grandchildren, Kristin and her husband Nicholas Fudala, Chad and his wife Fawn Armstrong, and Jennifer Meikrantz, Joshua Meikrantz, and David Meikrantz; and her great-grandchildren, Logan Cole Fudala and his sister Adeline Mary Fudala and Reata Honor Armstrong. She was the mother-in-law of the late Jack Meikrantz and was predeceased by her sisters.

Visitation will be held on Friday March 23, 2018 from 5 until 8 PM in the BLAKE FUNERAL HOME, 24 Worthen Street, CHELMSFORD. Her Funeral service will be held in the Funeral Home on Saturday morning at 9 AM. Interment will follow in the Fairview Cemetery, NORTH CHELMSFORD.
