UPDATED: Wild Police Chase Through Chelmsford Ends in New Hampshire

Police took a suspect into custody in New Hampshire after a wild car chase that sped through Chelmsford, reports said.

CHELMSFORD, MA - Police took a suspect into custody in Nashua, N.H. Wednesday evening after a wild car chase through Chelmsford, reports said.

The suspect ended up in a little closed neighborhood on Hutchinson Street, reports said. The male suspect was arrested after stepping out of a truck.

Several media helicopters followed the chase, which reportedly started in Holden. It was immediately unclear why the suspect ran from officers.

The car sped onto Route 3 North at about 4:45 p.m., passing exit 32 at speeds of 90 miles per hour, reports said.

The suspect got onto route 495 in Chelmsford and continued to exit 5, approaching New Hampshire. New Hampshire State Police took up the chase, reports said.

The car reportedly crashed and almost hit a New Hampshire police officer but continued to flee. A New Hampshire cruiser was struck at 5:13 p.m., according to reports.

Police were given permission to perform a precision immobilization technique maneuver if the car slowed to at least 30 miles per hour, reports said.

PIT is a tactic by which a pursuing car can force a fleeing car to abruptly turn sideways.
