UPDATED: 71-Year-Old Woman Crashes into Police Cruiser
The police cruiser had its lights flashing and was in a construction zone.
CHELMSFORD, MA -A Chelmsford police was hospitalized after a 71-year-old woman crashed into the back of his cruiser Tuesday night, police said.
The officer was in a marked police cruiser with flashing emergency lights at the time of the accident, police said.
Both the officer and driver of the other motor vehicle were transported to Lowell General Hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries, police said.

Photos showed heavy damage to the back of the police cruiser and the front of the other vehicle.
The incident is still under investigation but Chelmsford residents chimed in on social media urging local drivers to be more wary.

"As a Safety Director for a construction company who is involved in work zone set ups, this happens all too often. No amount of cones or barrels will protect workers and details from the motoring public. I'm glad to hear that the officer is ok. Please pay attention out there and MOVE OVER!" Paul Eriksen wrote on Facebook.
