Power outages could be possible given the windy and frigid conditions. In the event of a power outage, here's what you need to know.

CONCORD, MA—Frigid and windy conditions are set to hit Concord, and power outages could be possible.
Temperatures are set to drop below zero at around 9 p.m. Saturday and reach -10 degrees overnight. Winds are blow at speeds just below 20 miles per hour.
The National Weather Service says that down tree limbs could be possible, making a power outage a possibility. Here are some instructions for Concord residents from the Concord Municipal Light Plant, in the event of a power outage.
If you lose power during normal business hours contact CMLP at 978-318-3101. Off-hours call Concord Police at 978-318-3400. The following are a few helpful steps to determine if the problem is internal to your house or system wide.
- The first step is to try and determine whether or not your neighbors have power. If they do not, please report the outage at the numbers listed above.
- If you are unable to see if other people are without power or it seems they have power, locate the electrical panel in your home. Inside this panel will either be fuses or circuit breakers. Check to be sure that you do not have any blown fuse links or that all of the circuit breaker switches are pointing to the “on” position. If everything appears to be in order, contact CMLP to report the outage. If you find a blown fuse or circuit breaker it is extremely important to locate the problem before replacing the fuse or resetting the breaker. This indicates a potential problem with the internal wiring of your house which could ultimately be a fire hazard and safety threat to you and your family. Internal wiring will need to be looked at by a licensed electrician since it is privately owned. It is helpful to keep a list of electricians who are able to respond to these emergencies 24/7 and assist you with navigating your electrical panel.
- The more information you can provide to CMLP or your licensed electrician the better. This will help troubleshoot the problem and restore power as fast as possible.
- If you see any low hanging or downed wires DO NOT go near them and contact CMLP or the Concord Police at the numbers above.
