1. 80 Thoreau

Jonathan F. of Somerville writes: 80 Thoreau and Sarma are the only two restaurants in the Boston area that get 5 stars from me. It’s all about the food, which is consistently superb. Flavorful, fresh, and beautifully plated without pretense.

2. Haute Coffee

Will H. of Miami, FL writes: WOW.... Natural press Kenya Kalita that ‘attacked me’ with sweet goodness. In a regional with more Dinkin Donuts than weeds, it’s a pleasure to also find real coffee. Great home made pastries as well.

3. The Concord Cheese Shop

Vee C. of Medford writes: Wish I could give 10+ stars. I LOVE THIS PLACE!!!! Amazing variety of cheeses for a small shop, along with wine and other fantastic items. Deli is great - definitely try their specialty sandwiches. Staff is friendly and EXTREMELY KNOWLEDGEABLE when it comes to cheese.

4. Nashoba Brook Bakery

Loa P. of Boston writes: I am obsessed with their sourdough bread, sometimes I go just for a half loaf of bread to go or stay in for sourdough toast with PB&J. I think they recently extended their evening hours which is great too.

It’s hard to see how this could be rated anything but a 5 star experience all around:
- The service was prompt and attentive but not intrusive.
- The atmosphere was refined but definitely not stuffy.
- The food was fantastic.
It’s expensive but the prices aren’t out of line with the quality.
