Concord Visitor Center is Offering Winter Tours for 2021 Season

Group tours will be held with a minimum of 4 people and a maximum of 9 people.

CONCORD, MA — While this winter has been unique with mask requirements and changing of travel plans this holiday season, the Concord Visitor Center is providing a much-needed respite for locals as well as travelers. Located in historic Concord Center, home of the beginning of the Revolutionary War and many beloved authors, the Concord Visitor Center at 58 Main Street is offering tours by advanced reservation this winter from licensed local tour guides.

Group tours will be held with a minimum of 4 people and a maximum of 9 people to ensure
compliance with Massachusetts COVID-19 gathering restrictions. Masks are required and
reservations must be made with a minimum of 48 hours notice. To make a reservation for a
winter tour call 978-318-3061 or email visitors@concordma.gov to request your date and time.
Please note, the availability of tours are subject to change as COVID-19 policy changes and we
thank you for your understanding and patience, please contact the Visitor Center for the most up
to date information.

Reserved tours will run rain or shine, except for extreme weather and proper winter
outwear is recommended.

Here are the available tours and the visitor's center's description:

Winter Historic Tour of Concord
Winter walking tours of historic Concord are available for groups of 4 or more by reservation
only. The 75 minute experience will introduce guests to the Downtown Concord area and will
touch on Concord’s rich Revolutionary and Literary history while visiting sites such as The
Milldam, Monument Square, The Old Hill Burial Ground and more.

Emerson- Thoreau Amble
Join one of our concord Tour Guides as we ‘amble’ along the Emerson-Thoreau Amble, and
learn about Thoreau, Emerson and more as we enjoy the great outdoors.

Waterproof hiking shoes are recommended for this approximately 2 mile, 75 minute walk.
Terrain is uneven and muddy. Tours will run weather dependent.

Winter Little Women Tour
This winter tour is a 90 minute tour featuring Louisa May Alcott in her starring role in Concord
History. Guests will depart the Visitor Center and walk through Downtown Concord and over to
the outside of Orchard House and Wayside House (houses closed due to COVID 19)


Winter Historic Tours of Concord for Families
Are you looking for extra enrichment for your children while they are home from school due to
the pandemic? Gather some of their friends and sign up for a child-friendly, engaging historic
tour of Concord. The Concord Museum and The Concord Visitor Center are teaming up to offer
children exciting and fun opportunities to learn about history while attending to all COVID 19
protocols.

Winter African-American History of Concord Bike Tour
This 90 minute (about 5 miles) bike tour highlights African-American history by exploring
slavery, the first generation of freed African-Americans and Abolitionism in Concord. Guests
will bike to the Robbins House, John Jack’s Grave and various houses that were part of the
Underground Railroad.

This tour was originally developed for the Concord Museum. Information on their current

Tours depart from the Visitor Center and are weather dependent. Bring your own bike, lock and
helmet.

Winter Indigenous People of Concord Tour
This 75 minute tour looks at the over 10,000 year history of native people in Concord
(Musketaquid). Starting with the mighty Mill Brook, we will meander down Main Street and up
to the Calf Pasture on Lowell Road examining how native people lived by the 3 rivers of
Concord (Musketaquid) and what happened when two cultures collided after European fur
traders came and then English settlers in 1635.

Tours depart from the Visitor Center and are weather dependent. Wear warm, rugged walking
shoes for this 2 mile tour.
