Invitation to Advent Vespers at Trinity Episcopal Church, Dec 19

Join us for quiet contemplation at 5 pm in Trinity's historic Chapel

Trinity Episcopal Church continues its week of Advent Vespers for the community on Wednesday, December 19 at 5 pm, continuing each night through December 23. We meet in Trinity's intimate historic Chapel at 81 Elm Street in Concord.

Advent is a different kind of preparation for Christmas: the preparation of our hearts. This preparation invites us to stillness, to quiet moments, to candle-lit darkness.

The ancient "O Antiphons" (the text of the Advent hymn "O come, o come Emmanuel") center our focus on this preparation. The refrain of each verse reflects our longing for the arrival of the Holy Child.

The fourth "O" antiphon begins O clavis Jesse: O Key of David, opening the gates of God’s eternal Kingdom: come and free the prisoners of darkness!

The Rev. Nancy J. Hagner, Trinity's rector, invites you to take part in this quiet reflection
to let go of worldly reason and cares; to make space in our hearts and minds, our souls and our bodies for this miraculous event — Emmanuel, God with us.
