Matthew Fritsch: SpaceX Engineer, Concord-Carlisle Grad, Dies at 33
He passed away Jan. 6 following a battle with melanoma.

Matthew Fritsch, 33, of Playa Del Rey, California, formerly of Concord, Mass. died Tuesday January 6, 2015 in Los Angeles, California, after a courageous nearly four year battle with metastatic melanoma.
He was the beloved son of Edward F. Fritsch of Concord, MA and the late Janet E. (Sobieszczyk) Fritsch who died in 2011.

Matthew attended Concord public schools and was a 2000 graduate of Concord-Carlisle High School, where he lettered on the varsity football team.
He received a Bachelor’s in Engineering in 2004 from Cornell University and a Masters in Engineering in 2005, also from Cornell. While at Cornell, he was a member of the world champion FSAE Car Team.

He worked as an Aerospace Engineer at SpaceX in Hawthorne, California.
He enjoyed biking, hiking, and cars, especially formula one racing, as well as being around and with his many friends.
He was the brother of Lisa Maine of Napa, CA and Katherine Fritsch of Woodside, CA., nephew of Carol Sobieszczyk of Pittsburgh, PA, Betty Lou Schmidt and her husband Norman of Pittsburgh, PA, Kathryn Mokwa of West Mifflin PA, Eileen and Paul Hahn of Cheswick, PA and the late RoseAnn Kaplan.
Funeral will be held Monday January 12th from the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord Center at 9 am followed by a funeral Mass in Holy Family Parish, Monument Square, Concord at 10 am. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday January 11th from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm.
