Obituary: John McAuliffe, 72, Member Of Concord Players
John, a retired probation officer in Concord District Court, enjoyed theater and drama and was an active member of the Concord Players.

CONCORD, MA – Mr. John E. McAuliffe, of Boxborough and formerly of Concord and Somerville, died at his home, unexpectedly, on Friday, May 12, 2017 he was 72. Born in Cambridge he was the son of the late Albert F. and Dolores (Choquette) McAuliffe. John graduated from St. Clement High School and then enlisted in the Air Force where he served for four years. Following his honorable discharge from the service, John first enrolled in Emerson College studying drama and theater and then transferred to UMass Amherst to earn his bachelor degree.
John was a probation officer with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Trial Court, assigned to the Concord District Court from which he retired following many years of service. During his retirement John still enjoyed acting, theater and drama and was an active member of the Concord Players. He was an avid reader and sports fan and enjoyed watching the games with his family.
John is survived by his brother, Paul McAuliffe of Warner, NH, sisters, Anne Collins and her husband Kenneth of North Andover, Jeanne McAuliffe of California and was predeceased by his brother, Albert Michael McAuliffe. He was a special uncle of Maura Collins and Erin Whitney and great-uncle of Ryan, Michael, Natalie and Colin.

Funeral Procession from the George L. Doherty Funeral Home, 855 Broadway (Powder House Sq.) Somerville on Wednesday at 10:00AM followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated in St. Clement Church, Somerville at 11:00AM. Relatives and friends invited to attend. Calling Hours Tuesday 5:00PM to 8:00PM. Interment with military honors will follow at Puritan Lawn Cemetery, Peabody. In lieu of flowers, donations in John’s memory can be made to the American Heart Association at www.heart.org.
