Open Studios 2021 'En Plein Air' at The Umbrella

Annual Artists Demos Held Outdoors with Limited Capacity Over Two Weekends

Concord, MA –In a twist to a popular annual event, The Umbrella Arts Center's Open Studios will head outdoors to the front lawn of 40 Stow Street. As part of the multi-week spring Artfest, Open Studios 2021 will feature exhibits and demos from dozens of artists over two weekends in May.

Open Studios will mostly take place outdoors, with dozens of artists sharing work under a large tent

Usually held on the first weekend of April, the annual Open Studios at The Umbrella draws over a thousand visitors to The Umbrella, home to more than 60 working artists skilled in a variety of fine and applied arts including ceramics, glass, fiber arts, jewelry making, illustration, mixed-media, painting, photography, printmaking, illustration, sculpture, woodworking, writing and more. Since the organization’s founding Studio Artists have been at the heart of making this facility a community asset and wellspring of creative activity. A cherished tradition in Concord, annual Open Studios is an incredible opportunity to meet diverse artists, learn about their process, and share in celebrating their work.

This year, due to the pandemic, The Umbrella’s reimagined Open Studios heads outdoors, under a large temporary tent on the front lawn. As part of the multi-week art of Artfest, Open Studios 2021 will feature exhibits from dozens of Studio Artists in pre-reserved, limited time-slots with social distancing over two weekends in May: May 1 & May 2, May 8 & May 9.
