Police Log: Downed Wires, Solicitation Complaints and a 'Dora the Explorer' Racket

The following information was provided by the Concord Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Monday, Nov. 11

12:39 a.m. – An officer radioed in to report checking on a Sudbury Road business with its doors unsecured. The alarm triggered when the officer opened the door, according to the incident report.

7:30 a.m. – Police responded to a commercial alarm activation at the Ripley School on Meriam Road. It was confirmed as accidental by a school employee.

12:14 p.m. – As a result of a motor vehicle stop in the area of Main and Highland streets, a Concord man was cited for operating a motor vehicle with his license revoked, operating a motor vehicle with his registration suspended or revoked, vehicle not meeting RMV safety standards and uninsured motor vehicle.

2:09 p.m. – A Deer Grass Lane resident called to complain about a solicitor going door-to-door attempting to sell a tree service before leaving in an older model sedan. The responding officer located the vehicle on Indian Pipe Lane and advised the man, who works for a tree service out of Woburn and was doing a job in the area, about the town bylaw.

2:29 p.m. – Police responded to a reported motor vehicle accident at Damon Mill Square.

6:41 p.m. – A deer was reportedly struck by a motor vehicle in the area of Barretts Mill Road and Grove Street. Police checked the area, but were unable to locate the animal.

8:08 p.m. – A 911 caller reported a car carrier took down a cable/phone wire on Border Road by Hayward Mill Road. Police located the vehicle and advised Verizon of the telephone wire down.

8:27 p.m. – A Captain Miles Lane resident called to report a dog barking for the past 30 minutes. The caller said he was concerned about the wellbeing of the dog, and was not complaining about the barking, according to the incident report.

9:33 p.m. – A Walden Street resident called to report excessive noise coming from the Scout House. The responding officer reported there was a function going on at the Scout House until 10:30 p.m., but the doors there had been closed.

9:50 p.m. – The same Walden Street resident called back to report that, as soon as the officer left the Scout House, the noise level increased again. The responding officer reported being outside the Scout House, where people were beginning to leave the function, and he said the noise level was not excessive.

Tuesday, Nov. 12

7:48 a.m. – Police responded to a report of a crane in the roadway causing a traffic disruption by the Concord Free Public Library on Main Street.

10:39 a.m. – A Carlisle man came into the station to turn in a tennis racket and “Dora the Explorer” backpack found on Walden Street.

3:05 p.m. – An Upland Road resident called to file a traffic complaint on a vehicle reportedly speeding down her street.

7:37 p.m. – A 911 hangup came in from Concord-Carlisle High School. It was confirmed as accidental by the Music Department.
