Registration for “Summer at CYT” is now open!

Don’t wait to hear “I’m bored,” from your kids this summer. Register for Summer at CYT, which will offer in-person theater programming for students entering grades 1-8. Your children will enjoy inspiring instruction from talented educators who are professionals in their field. Adhering to ongoing health and safety guidelines to meet Covid-19 precautions, Summer at CYT will feed your child’s hunger for in-person opportunities to explore their creative sides with supportive teachers and peers.

“We are so thrilled to be able to offer summer theater opportunities again! We missed the students immensely last summer and, given the success of our school year classes and performances, we can’t wait to provide summer opportunities for students to participate in a variety of creative experiences,” says Lisa Evans, CYT Artistic Director. “We know that parents have struggled during the past year to keep kids engaged and active. We have thoughtfully planned our summer course offerings to reach a broad range of ages and provide access to a welcoming community to explore the performing arts.”

All CYT instructors and directors have degrees in theater, performing arts, or educational theater and extensive experience in productions. Most are engaged in theater education in public or private schools as well as at the college level. Summer at CYT includes:

CENTER STAGE PLAYERS Open to students entering grades 1 – 6, Center State Players is a one-week creative workshop to satisfy all of your dramatic needs! Using scripts and/or improvised dialogue, students will dramatize familiar stories on stage, complete with songs and simple dances. The group will be coached in acting, singing and movement by Concord Youth Theatre staff educators. The week will culminate in an informal performance for friends and family.

SUMMER STOCK TROUPE Open to students entering grades 6 – 8, Summer Stock Troupe is a 3-week session that offers fun and in depth instruction to sharpen your performance skills. Under the direction of Carly Evans, Drama Teacher at Lincoln-Sudbury High School, students will be coached in character development, improvisation, voice and movement as they rehearse a well-known play. The session will culminate in a performance for friends and family. July 6–23, 2021, Monday – Friday 9am-12 :30pm.
