Umbrella Offers Flexible Spring Classes @Home, Hybrid Art Class Options

The Umbrella Arts Center is now registering for its second Spring 2021 session of virtual and hybrid arts classes and workshops for all ages and in a variety of media.
Although The Umbrella's classrooms at 40 Stow Street remain largely closed for in-person arts instruction due to the pandemic, it has spent most of this year innovating The Umbrella @Home programming, with virtual arts instruction delivered through multiple distance-learning methods and platforms.
The newest session, with classes beginning as early as May 3, offers courses in Drawing, Painting, Photography, Fiber Arts, Nature Art, and Creative Mindfulness. Options range from one-day Zoom workshops in subjects such as needlepoint felting to in-person outdoors woodland explorations to 6-week painting technique courses with noted nationally exhibited artists. The Umbrella is also continuing to expand its hybrid Ceramics classes, offering both in-person and virtual courses for beginners and advanced students alike.
The Umbrella has also opened registration for our youth Summer Arts Programs, with flexible options for both in-person and at-home arts education for Grades K-6 and Counselors-in-Training ages 14-16, and our virtual April Vacation Week @ Home workshops in Drawing, Fiber Arts, Arts and Environment, and Photography. This year, with restrictions due to the pandemic, we have refined our approach to deliver online arts education and at-home.
To inspire its community to remain creative through the pandemic, The Umbrella is also inviting all class participants, teachers and community artists share their favorite creations in its online #DiscoverYourArts Showcase, expanding this summer's virtual exhibition featuring student work and art shared through challenges by community artists.
