Whole Foods Opening Near Concord
Whole Foods made the announcement Wednesday as the company's stock continued a free fall amid increased competition.

Whole Foods is coming to Sudbury.
The Austin, Texas-based organic grocery store chain made the announcement Wednesday in its disappointing fourth quarter earnings report. Shares are 50 percent lower than in February. In September, the company announced 1,500 job cuts amid increased competition from organic grocers.
The Sudbury Whole Foods will employ about 225 workers. The specific location was not revealed.

“Sudbury is such a quintessentially New England town and we are so excited to develop a store that celebrates the rich history of the area,” said Laura Derba, president of Whole Foods Market’s North Atlantic region, in a statement. “We are eager to get this project underway and to get to know our new neighbors and learn how we can best serve as community partners in Sudbury.”
The store is expected to open in 2017.

Whole Foods operates 10 stores in Massachusetts, including one in Bedford.
